Automatic drawings and notes on Grandma
Sarah Lennard, 2015

For my mum, drawing is a way to screen the emotional fabric of circumstance. Discarded around various rooms in the house, on scrap paper, her biro lines indicate how she feels about care giving. However, literal screens have also become strongly associated with this online sketchbook. In the vein of ongoing Covid-19 procedures, she and I have on rare occasions been permitted close observation of my grandma through an acrylic sheet, using a baby monitor to communicate with her from separate pods within the care home.
